I can help you here by telling you that the inside of my Men’s 10.5s is pretty close to 28 cm. The upper is really flexible and soft, so I can eek out a couple more mms but I’m not confident that’s accurate. This is 1/2 a cm shorter than what’s listed as the JP size/length listed on the sizing chart. Keep this difference in mind especially if, like me, your shape does not match the shape of Xero Shoes, where there is a fairly steep slope at the outer toes. A shorter length than expected could impact your outer toes quickly. Most shoes, whether they’re canvas or not, are actually not made to fit your foot.
Of course this means I’m now hiking in wet shoes, but I found that if I wore light wool socks it really didn’t feel much different than hiking in dry shoes. I did this on three different occasions and never developed any blisters or even the slightest foot discomfort. They would feel almost dry an hour later, about the time I would have to cross the creek again coming back. If I hiked early enough in the day they would complete dry in a few hours of afternoon sun. If late I would put them over an air conditioner set to fan only and dry them really fast.
As a result my hiking was limited to early morning or late afternoon exercise hikes with the exception of one overnighter on September 1, 2018. This would be the hike to The Walls of Jericho in northeastern Alabama. On this trip the high was around 85 F and it was very humid. There was a lot of thunder during the afternoon but the worst stayed away, with only a few light showers and a welcomed cooling breeze as a result.
The toe-box allows my feet to splay, the mid-foot is also quite generous, and the shoe is suited for a foot with an average to slightly larger width and volume. Despite being a US size 9, it fits me quite well. I did remove the insole right away for a more barefoot feel. Sara did not feel there was enough room in the toe box area since hers felt a half size too small.
